Old Neunkirchen steelworks
This is what the water tower cooled. The last steel was produced in 1982. Since then the site has been redeveloped and these towers have been left standing as a reminder of the town's industrial heritage and to give photographers something to shoot.

ReplyDeleteAmazing industrial structure!
I am trying to visit the Neunkirchen steelworks for two years now ... thinking this must be a great photo opportunity. As I can see now, ;-).
ReplyDeleteWell, it's definitely not what I thougt it was:)
ReplyDeleteFascinating! Seems this industrial structure has become a landmark.
ReplyDeleteAh, that's another point on my "places to visit in Germany" - list. It would be very nice if you find a link or something, but I can also ask some of my co-workers who are Saarländer. Völklingen was one of this year's proposal for our "company outing" but it's a litte bit to far away from Mainz for that. Thx in advance if you can dig out ... :-)
