stone fungi, chains,

Chained fungi

Where are these stone fungi? What are they doing in the middle of the woods? At least some of the mystery will be revealed tomorrow.

  1. Is it the private possesion? Whatever it is I like this idea of fence!
Can't wait to see what's the answer:)

  2. Judging from the size of the chains, these fungi must be very strong. Interesting photo.

  4. Maybe a border for a troll castle?
    P.S.Martina: Yeah, we caught that too. ;-}

  5. Intriguing and interesting photo. Not too tall to be a fence but more like border for a property or something. The chains look big and heavy. These are surely strong mushrooms. :)

  6. Thanks for the comments. A day has passed and the next day's photo should tell you where they are located. And their function? Put there as decoration by someone fascinated with the pagan mystique of the place, I guess. Whether their shape represents any great pagan symbolism has not yet been revealed to me. You may make up your own mind.

joo: I hope your curiosity is now satisfied.

RogerB: Yes, they are impressive chains.

Martina + Don and Krise: Yes, it had occurred to me that their shape might not taken from fungus but from something else. However, I did not like to mention that, as it might attract the wrong kind of Google search.

Sashindoubutsu: Yes, the chains are strong but I think they are purely decorative.

  7. Fungi? (; Actually, your picture made me wonder about the plural of penis. Is there any? Hope you don't mind mentioning the bad word. *lol*

  9. JM: Glad you like them.

Caçador: Pode ser. Mais parecem duros para comer!

  10. The shape fascinates of course, but the mosses actually make the shapes very beautiful. The chain makes it sortof into a living thing that is being taken away ...

  11. Julie: Yes, I am big moss fan.

  12. Hi AB, I don't visit you blog often enough. I have just been enjoying a trawl down all your wonderful photos, such a lovely variety of subject matter. I'm going to add you to my blog roll so I'm prompted to visit more often.

  13. Joan Elizabeth, AB is so cool - he shows you sides of Germany the most Germans don't know about ...

  14. Joan Elizabeth: Thanks for the kind words. I have only just noticed that you have two other blogs apart from Blue Mountains Journal (Sweet Wayfaring and Burnbrae Journal). Do you only update the Blue Mountain blog when you go in expeditions to that area?

Martina: Shucks, you make me blush! I was going to suggest when you mentioned giving up your blog, that you show us Mainz. However, since your "fishing" expedition, you now seem brimming with ideas for your blog.

  15. AB, yes, it was really a good thing to leave town and get some new inspiration - I think I have taken pics of every crate of every farmer around here, ;-).
