saar, river, spider-like, cabin

Spider cabin

This particular arachnid is to be found on the banks of the Saar. I keep imagining it will use its legs to wander off, but it always seems to be in the same place. I think it serves some function to do with controlling traffic on the river.

  3. The area seems potentially threatened by flood waters. Quite smart to build the house on legs...

  4. Interesting...if a little ugly! I can imagine kids would like it as a sort of semi-treehouse!

  7. Thanks for all your comments.

joo: no, I have not been inside and I am not sure I dare — if you click for the large version, you will see that the floor is in a state of severe disrepair.

Buenos Aires Photoblog: good point, although in the worst years that still would not have saved it.

tapirgal: this weekend there is a Summer of Science event in town with lots of robots. Now if they could put their skils to making this walk, that would make an even more impressive show.

  8. I like the different shape of this cabin. I bet it's design inside is very unique.
