Very unusual church it looks more like a tower than a church! I like your photos - some of them might have been easily taken here in Upper Silesia:) Have a nice weekend!
I do not like the "churches have to look like bunkers or missile launching pads" way of modern German church architecture - these buildings seldom fit with their surroundings and simply look awful.
Nonetheless: your perspective is cool - as ever, ;-).
I must say that I focussed here on the red stone. There are also large swathes of glass in the construction, which make it look less like a bunker or castle. There are many churches built in Saarbrücken after the war that I find far uglier. Maria Königin, in comparison, uses the native red stone instead of concrete, has lots of airy glass, and is composed of simple, elegant curves.
Great angle of this architecture, unusual for a church but its round form are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice shot... interesting in its simplicity
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a castle. Love the architecture and the stone work. Gorgeous.

It is the curve that makes this church in my eyes.
