Willi Graf - 1918-1943
Willi Graf was raised in Saarbrücken. As a schoolboy and student, he was a member of the anti-Nazi resistance movement, playing an active role in the White Rose resistance group. He was arrested twice. At the second time, he was executed. Since then, he has become a fine example of civil courage and seven schools have been named after him, including the Willi Graf Gymnasium in Saarbrücken.
What do the red lights represent? Is this an anniversary of his sacrifice?

ReplyDeleteWhat courage during a terrible time in history. Many people believe they would be so brave but I doubt they would be. Willi Graf deserves to be remembered.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the White Rose. I read the wikipedia page and I have to say thanks for the history lesson. I'm glad that people still honor them, they surely deserve it.

He's got my respect! A true hero and role model! I wish more people had as much courage and strength as he and his comrades had.
