pigs, statues, swineherd

Pigs come to town

These pigs and swineherd are to be found in the Hallplatz in Zweibrücken. They recall the time before 1912 when there was a livestock market on this spot.

  1. Really?? ummm ... why?
Can I figure this is a medieval market town? I guess the poses are cute ... I think out here they would be covered with abusive graffiti ...

  2. Julie, Joan Elizabeth: I have now answered the market question in the original entry. Yes, the town dates back to mediaeval times. And in the 15th century it became the capital of the independent Duchy of Zweibrücken.

  6. That is so cute. I have seen a lamb near where I live, and a white pig in Hobart but nothing like this.
