Ah, good old concrete structures.

ReplyDeleteThese are stairs leading down from the Westspange bridge, which serves mainly as a three-lane highway to bring cars to and from the autobahn. Pedestrians will usually find a more pleasant way to cross the Saar.

1986 and still using ugly concrete! We have a lot of that around Sydney. Visually it does not last the test of time, descending in cold ugliness that is only every enlivened by graffiti.

ReplyDeleteThat was the Westspange. In 1996, when they built the Ostspange, they had graduated to blue metal.
The stairs are nice enough so that I didn't really notice the graffiti.

ReplyDeleteCet escalier est tellement moche qu'il devient presque joli ;) C'est un peu l'ambience de Nowa Huta - le quartier ouvrier et industriel que le communistes ont construit tout pres de Cracovie.
