Vines on a hill

For some reason, vines are not grown in the Southern reaches of the Saar. As one gets closer to the Mosel, vineyards begin to crop up - like this one, for which it looks like they have shaved the hill.

  6. You know that the Mosel has some of the steepest vineyards on her (hmmm) banks? Especially where the Mosel flows into the Rhine.

  7. BrandNewStudio: Thanks.

Martina: Yes, maybe the lack of steep slopes is why they do not grow vines in the southern reaches of the Saar.
