Annahof

The person responsible for all the fine Baroque buildings in Blieskastel was Marianne von der Leyen. In 1773, her husband gave her this house and the lake as a Christmas present. It is now a hotel and restaurant with fine views overlooking the water.

  5. Love this photo... wouldn't have thought this was taken with a mobile phone camera... how do you like Germany? My mum's German; I moved to Germany a little over two years ago but I guess it's a bit more difficult to get by if you haven't grown up bilingually?

    Joan Elizabeth: Thanks.

Martina: It was intended to provide Marianne with pocket money (Taschengeld)

joo: Maybe, you can put it on this year's list to Santa Claus.

    Frank de Jol: Dziękuję.

Dominic Doherty: Germany is fine. Actually, doing this blog has increased my knowledge of the history and geography of the region where I live and I now identify more with it. I have never had much problem with the language.

JM: And presumably a lot of land.

nobu: It is a special house here, too.

arabesque: I just read this week in the local paper, the first crime hotel has opened in Saarland, where you get to work out whodunnit.

    Cezar and Léia: Obrigado.

    Catarina: Gracias, buena semana.
