Submarine snout

  1. This one looks like an ugly sculpture. I love all the ones below. You seem to see so many sculptures, is this because you have an particular interest in sculpture?

I should, perhaps, have pointed out that the last few photos are from a trip to Speyer, mainly to see the aquarium there and the technical museum. The only bona fide sculptures in this series are the chunk of metal in the cathedral garden and the enormous lyre player. The spider is a children's climbing frame, and the plane wing and this submarine are exhibits in the museum.

I did, actually, take lots of snaps in the aquarium, but we were not allowed to use flash and the resulting photos were not really good enough for the blog.

  7. Neat. It must be a "paint by the numbers" project.

  8. Thanks for the comments.

    Naturedigital: Ευχαριστώ.

Frau G: Ich glaube die Zahlen sind Löcher, wo die Torpedos rauskommen.

Renee: Yes, it is a real submarine that had seen lots of years service. I went inside and it was, of course, rather cramped. It would hate to spend weeks and months in there.

    Pat Tillett: Thanks.

arabesque: Feel free to hum the tune as you visit the blog.

Don and Krise: Probably, best not to be painting when the torpedos come out.

  11. I have been in this museum in Speyer some years ago, I didn't go in the submarine, though -- too scary.
