I was down at the beach this morning at 7. It was delightful.

  2. The day don't look appropriate for swimming, but still is a great exercise. The drops on the chrome and the form makes a fine composition!

  4. Yes this is a lovely composition ... not surprised there is a lack of business.

There is a famous surf pool in Sydney called the Bondi Icebergs. The blurb says "The club has around 800 official and up to 4000 social members. To be a swimming club member you have to have swum there 75 times over five years during the cold months of May to September. Average water temperature during that time is 16ºC, so the prospect is not appealing to everyone!"

I bet your pool however gets colder than that.

  12. Thanks for the comments.

Julie: I will bet you did not go sledging, though!

    Carraol: Gracias.

    joo: Dziękuję.

Joan Elizabeth: I think there are clubs around here that will go swimming in such pools on January 1. Not, however, any club that I might think of joining.

    webruci: Obrigado.

    Cezar and Léia: Obrigado.

    Unseen Rajasthan: Thanks.

arabesque: Glad you managed to figure it out. It is a turnstile. The metal loops on the left rotate and those on the right do not.

jesse: Thanks. I like your photo blog, too. Good photographic technique and Shenzhen is an amazng place.

I just Googled Chase Jarvis. Thanks for the tip. He seems to have taken simple ingredients - a community web site, a photography book and a basic photo pimping app - and wrapped them up with good marketing and great slogans - “The best camera is the one that's with you” (TM), “One button”, etc.

Martina: I actually cheated. The first snowfall was such an event that I posted the photo out of sequence. This photo is the day before the snow, and, at least in Saarbrücken, the weather has become increasingly colder, so that the snow is still on the ground.

    JM: Obrigado.

    Eric: Thanks.

Don and Krise: See you in the pool in January, then?
