sunset, woods

Blazing sunset

The gap in the trees for the power lines is the only place, apart from the tower, where you can look out from the big, woody Schwarzenberg hill onto the town below. Sometimes the sunsets are spectacular.

  1. Wow, it almost looks like the horizon is on fire. Very spectacular!

  2. It reminds me of a fire in the distance also. Very cool.

  3. Very cool - the power lines give the little extra to this photo, make the perpective more interesting.

  4. Funny thing about power lines ... they can seem a blight on the landscape but they somehow also give dimension and energy to it ... I like the big transmission lines like this, not the ones that clutter up our neighbourhoods.

  5. Funny that James should say that as that was the first thing that popped into my mind. "It looks like the horizon is on fire!"

  6. Joan Elizabeth, in most parts of (West-) Germany there are no low voltage overhead powerlines (i.e. house to house or road lighting provisioning). I think I can remember, as a kid in the 70's, when all the overhead powerlines were removed in the village where I grew up. So around here you will only find high voltage and extra-high voltage overhead powerlines and no cluttering up in the neighbourhoods, ;-). Some more useless facts provisioned by me .. ;-).

AB, just had this "could not process" problem with commenting again ... so I think this might be something different than the umts issue?

  7. Martina: I am sure there are no end of issues with comments. The code behind it looks awfully baroque. If you can handle clicking twice now and then, I will stick with the embedded comment box. I have to click the popup version twice, now and then, anyway.

On a related note, do you know why people use the "captchas" in the blog comment form? I have never had any spam, and even if I did, removing a couple of spam items per day would be less hassle than entering dozens of captchas.

  8. ad captchas: I have them actived not because of the one or two potential spams a day but because of a potential spam outbreak. About other people - I don't know, ;-)
