Das Kunstobjekt auf dem Forum wurde von Herrn Oswald Hiery aus Wallerfangen entworfen und gestaltet. Es ist das Bildnis des Wagenlenkers Automedon.
Das Thema ist das Bestreben des Menschen, Bewegung zu erzeugen unter einem möglichst geringen Eigenenergieaufwand. Die Bemühung um eine Automatisierung richtet sich auf alle Lebensbereiche des Menschen. Deshalb ist die Figur sowohl mit Rädern als auch mit Flügeln ausgestattet und in eine ruhende Position gebracht.
In einem gleichgewichtigen Zusammenhang steht diese Assemblage aus verzinktem Eisen und Aluminiumguß in der Höhe des Gesimsrings der beiden Gebäudeteile.
The work of art in the forum was designed and realised by Oswald Hiery from Wallerfangen. It is of Automedon, the charioteer of Greek mythology.
The theme of the work is man's striving for the most efficient form of motion. Such a striving for automation can be found in all areas of human life. That is why the figure has been given wheels as well as wings and why it is in a resting position.
The work, composed of zinc-coated iron and cast aluminium, lies in a balanced position at the same height as the circular cornice that joins the two buildings.
