Saarbrücken Synagogue

In 1925, there were ca 2,200 Jews living in Saarbrücken (roughly 2% of the population). In 1946, only 40 had survived the Nazi horrors. Now the Jewish community has around 1,100 active members. (Info in German)

celts, iron works,

Celtic face #1

There is currently a major exhibition on Celts in the old ironworks in Völklingen. Saarland is located in an area which was at the core of the La Tène Celtic culture and many traces from that time have been unearthed here. As for the exhibition, the images of faces are what I found the most fascinating.
