Cascade messine
In the current Google maps satellite photos, this is still a car park, but Metz has, in fact, thrown out the cars and given the square over to pedestrians. Metz gets better every day.

Bietzen Spa: “According to the Deutscher Bäderverband e.V. (German Spa Association), the spring is of a sodium calcium chloride water, which contains significant amounts of magnesium, hydrogen carbonate and sulphate.” Apparently, it is supposed to be good for you.

Napoleon's Fountain
As French troops were occupying the east of the Rhine after 1792, the citizens of Blieskastel were inspired with revolutionary zeal to construct an obelisk with a snake around it in honour of the new French ruler. The inscription reads: A NAPOLEON premier Empereur des Francais. Le Canton de Bliescastel le 28e floréal an XII. That date is May 18, 1804 when Napoleon was declared Emperor.
