bench, woods

Bench in the shade

This place is called the Teufelskanzel (the Devil's Pulpit). According to legend, a nun pledged her soul to the devil if he would build her a tunnel to let her meet her lost lover. The tunnel collapsed before it was complete and the nun's soul was thus saved. The ravine next to this bench is all that is left of the devil's handiwork.
